Leather Carry-all/Tote bag One day Short Course
Come and make a machine-sewn leather carry-all/tote bag, perfect for carrying your day to day essentials such as your makeup bag, purse, phone, books etc. There will be a small selection of coloured leathers to choose from. You will be shown how to use leather making tools and equipment safely and to machine sew leather.
The workshop is suitable for adults – beginners or improvers. You are more than welcome to bring your own be apron to wear during the day and will sew your bag on your own sewing machine.
- You will work from a pre-made template.
- You will be shown how to use an industrial sewing machine. Focusing on starting, sewing and ending your sewing neatly.
- You will practice sewing before you start your bag.
- You will choose your leather and cut the desired shape out using a template.
- Sew your bag using an industrial sewing machine.
- Have the option to add an internal pocket.
Class is appropriate for: Adults – beginners or improvers

Location: Studio One, 36 Keyhill Drive, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham B18 5NY.
Coffee, tea, soft drinks, biscuits and lunch are available with this short course. We will take a 45 min or so break for lunch with food provided from a local cafe and regular comfort breaks. I have benches that can be used outside, so that you can eat alfresco or there is the option to eat socially distanced inside. Please state any dietary requirements in the comments box when booking your place.
Please be reassured that all workshops and short courses will follow COVID-19 safety measures. These include:
Reduced class sizes. ( Please note that the leather surface decoration short course will have a larger number of participants due to the prior preparation of resources and use of an additional table.)
Regular cleaning of shared spaces such as the WC.
Individual stations that provide your own supply of antibacterial hand gel, antibacterial spray/wipes for surfaces.
Use of own tools, if any of the resources are shared such as paints – disposable gloves are readily available.
In addition to a tower fan that moves air around, the studio door will also be partially open to encourage the free flow of air.
In the event of a COVID-19 spike either locally or nationally. This short course will be rescheduled to a more suitable and safe date. If you book this short course, alternative dates will be given when it is safe to do so.
