Leather Tool Roll Workshop

Come and make a bespoke tool roll for your tools – whether that be artist/make-up paint brushes, jewellery,  modelling tools, carpentry tools, pencils whatever your ‘craft’ is. You will work from paper templates and will be shown various techniques to help you create your bespoke tool roll. Please note that this is a beginner/intermediate workshop and will cover appropriate techniques. You will leave the workshop with the knowledge to create your own design. You will be shown how to use leather-making tools and equipment safely and to machine sew leather.

Please note the maximum ‘finished’ size tool roll will be no larger than 40 cm x 25 cm.

The workshop is suitable for adults – beginners or improvers. You can bring your own apron to wear during the workshop if you choose to do so.

  • You will work from a pre-made template.
  • You will be shown how to cut leather safely.
  • You will be shown how to apply rivets and buckles and how to hand stamp leather
  • You will be shown how to hand sew leather
  • You will be shown how to use an industrial sewing machine. Focusing on starting, sewing and ending your sewing neatly.
  • You will practice sewing before you start your tool roll.
  • You will choose your leather and cut the desired shape out using a template.
  • Sew your tool roll by hand/using an industrial sewing machine.

Class is appropriate for: Adults – beginners or improvers

Coffee, tea, soft drinks, biscuits and lunch are available during this workshop. We will take a 45min or so break for lunch with food provided from a local supermarket and regular comfort breaks. Please state any dietary requirements in the comments box when booking your place.
